Happy Friday!…Okay, okay. I know. It’s not technically Friday, but for me it is. In less than ten minutes, I begin my one week vacation.
Before you ask, no, I’m not going anywhere. Sadly, a trip just wasn’t in the budget this year. But it’s okay! I’m going to make the best of my “staycation”. Mostly, my plans consist of kicking back and relaxing. Perhaps reading a book or two, spending time with friends and family, and maybe even driving up to Vail for the day (my favorite mountain town here in Colorado).
Honestly, I’ll probably spend the majority of my time writing. I’ve had a rough two weeks with my manuscript. After figuring out some vital plot points, I had to go back and revise the first six chapters of my story. Well, the first five were easy. They mostly just needed some tweaking. But chapter six…
It’s been the bane of my existence! If I could’ve, I would’ve brushed past it. But I couldn’t. Chapter six basically reveals the big “Why” and sets up the rest of the story. So, skipping it was impossible.
Thankfully, I finally managed to glue the pieces together last night and emailed it to my beta reader for approval/feedback. And she gave me the thumbs up–phew! Now I need to roll up my sleeves and catch back up. I’ve lost a lot of precious time tripping and fumbling over this chapter, and I’m starting to fear my August 15th deadline isn’t feasible. Unless I focus really, really hard.
So, with that said, I wanted to let you all know I won’t be blogging next week while on vacation. Sorry! And I might–might–be forced to cut back just a little the rest of summer until I finish my book. Sorry again!! Believe me, it’s not something I want to do, but I’m afraid if I keep pushing myself at the breathless pace I’ve set, I might–might–lose it.
Bye bye. Ta-ta. See ya later…
Yeah, let’s not let that happen, huh? 😉
So, this will be my last post until after my vacation. Until then, farewell my invisible, but wonderful, friends! I hope you all have a great week! And for those of you in the US, have a fantastic Fourth of July! Go watch a parade, eat a hot dog, roast a mallow, and “ooh” and “ahh” at lots of fireworks! Most of all, take a moment and give thanks to our freedom and to those who’ve fought for it.
In honor of Independence Day, here is today’s Friday Funny! Enjoy.
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!
How was your week? Have any fun plans for the holiday?
