Music Monday – You Give Love A Bad Name – Bon Jovi

Welcome to Music Monday! As many of you know, music contributes a great deal to my writing process. Whether it’s a song’s lyrics, beat, rhythm, or tone, I find myself constantly inspired by it.

writing-to-musicSo, as I mentioned in my Friday Funny last week, I’ve reached the “bang” moment in my story. All of the suspense I’ve been building and building since chapter one has finally reached its peak. Now it’s time to drop the WTH is happening??? bomb on my characters and start the avalanche of chaos.

As the drama and action and horror unfolds, I’ve begun listening to Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name”.

tumblr_mibkwybTEw1s4ehkio1_400Ohhh, yeah. Look at that hair…So hot! ;-)

But seriously. Just the first ten seconds of this 80’s smash hit are enough to get my creative juices flowing. I could listen to them again and again and again…Okay, I have listened to them again and again and again–ha! It’s impossible not to when they conjure up images like these:

Action. Betrayal. Devastation. Fear. This song captures everything I’m attempting to portray as I drop the WTH is happening??? bomb on my characters.

So, if you’re looking for similar inspiration for your story, try listening to Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name”. Enjoy!

What song(s) are you in love with right now? Which one(s) offer you inspiration? Let me know! I’m always searching for songs that motivate my writing.
